Bad Faith Fact Checking

In multiple attempts by “fact-checkers” to debunk the claim that Denmark effectively banned the Covid mRNA vaccines for those under 18 years of age without a doctor’s recommendation, a certain type of semantic tightrope walking has been employed. You see it’s not technically an outright ban we are told.

Mumblings on Epistemic Responsibility

I’m beginning to write again. Though I’ve learned a great deal in the time between my de-conversion from Christianity to my current beliefs, I have not recorded any of my intellectual evolution to this point. Only in sparse commentary on Facebook posts or Reddit boards have I revealed (in an outward manner) my worldview. I’ve been through periods of credulity, skepticism, belief, confusion, and bitterness; all locked between my ears. But recently, a trend has emerged among those people with whom I spend time. People in general seem to have, in my experience as a 31-year-old white male living in the American South, become more openminded. I acknowledge that the data set from which I draw this conclusion is based on my own unique, subjective experience in the world, so it cannot be completely generalized. But my observation of the ‘Other’ in society (anyone *other than* myself) is what leads me to this hypothesis.

Some Misinformation Is More Equal Than Others

The CDC recently presented misleading data to the FDA on the risk of COVID-19 to children, this apparently to justify the vaccination of those as young as 6 months old. Our health authorities have fully established that they are willing to lie to us for our own good, but now they are apparently willing to lie to each other as well.

What Is About To Come

The international rally behind Ukraine is certainly something to behold. Yet despite the courage of the Ukrainian people behind their equally brave president, what we are most likely to witness in the upcoming weeks, months and years will present to us a brutality of war not seen in decades.

How Long Can The West Stay Focused On Ukraine?

For years Germany, the fourth largest economy in the world, has played both sides of the American-Russian standoff, both during and after the Cold War. Germany has refused to militarize, choosing instead to rely on America’s nuclear umbrella while at the same time staying on Moscow’s good side. The Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline was but the latest symbol of drushba (friendship) between the two as Germany continued to draw 55% of its gas and 45% of its oil from Russia. Blame their geographical proximity and Otto von Bismarck's famous line, “Never cut the link to St. Petersburg.”
